Police: Man Shot Ex-Girlfriend, Killed Self in Chicago Loop

CHICAGO (AP) – Authorities have identified the two people shot to death in a murder-suicide at a downtown Chicago business. Police say 45-year-old Richard Idrovo walked into a loan store in the Loop business district Friday afternoon and shot his ex-girlfriend, 44-year-old Alma Hernandez, before shooting himself.

The Medical Examiner’s office said Saturday Hernandez was shot multiple times and ruled her death a homicide. They said Idrovo was shot once in the neck and his death was a suicide.

Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said Hernandez had been working as a clerk at AmeriCash Loans on West Van Buren Street. The store is across the street from the Chicago Board of Trade.

Hernandez and Idrovo both lived in the Chicago suburb of Tinley Park.
