34th Annual ABATE Bash Kicks Off Tonight to Raise Money for Local Charities

ABATE 2015The 34th Annual three day Central Illinois ABATE Bash will be this weekend in efforts to raise money for local charities and educate motorcyclists on motorcycle safety.

This annual event was originally held in one day, but 10 years ago Knox County ABATE Chairman Greg Bacon made the three extension as an opportunity to raise more money.

Bacon tells Galesburg Morning News on WGIL, the money will go towards Disabled Individuals Getting In Touch and the Galesburg Youth Athletic Club Charities.

“Part of the money we raise for charities goes to  an ABATE pack system, and we give money away. Our pack gives us money to buy tickets and we give money to them every year”.

Bacon says everyone is welcomed to join in the event, which will kick off at 5 p.m. tonight at the Knox County Fairgrounds and lasting through the weekend.

Tomorrow Bacon says there will be field events beginning around 2:30 p.m. and 10 a.m. Church on Sunday to begin the day’s activities.
Bacon says in past years the ABATE Bash usually reached between 800 to 1,500 people in attendance throughout the weekend, and is expecting a similar if not greater turn out this time around.

Bacon adds the event will still be on rain or shine for A Brotherhood Aimed Toward Education Bash.
