Margaret F. DeWitt, 89, formerly Galesburg, Illinois, died at 7:39 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2015 in Maple Woods Assisted Living Center in Cohasset, Minnesota.
Margaret was born October 26, 1925 in Galesburg, the daughter of Martin and Hazel Sutton Bower. She married Russell DeWitt on June 4, 1947 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2013.
She is also survived by two sons, Donald (and Alice) DeWitt of Blackduck, Minnesota and James (and Rebecca) DeWitt of Roseville, Illinois; a daughter, Bonnie (and Martin) Hoadley of Kewanee, Illinois; two brothers, Robert Bower of Abingdon, Illinois and Leo Bower of Cooley City, Washington; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and a grandson.
Margaret lived in Oquawka for 40 years before moving to Galesburg in 1999. She worked five years at the Admiral/Maytag Corporation and five years in housekeeping at Knox College.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2015 in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.
