Carl Sandburg College Breaks the National Benchmark in Graduation Rate Percentage

Carl Sandburg CollegeThe National Student Clearinghouse recognized Carl Sandburg College for standing out among many colleges across the U.S. for its efforts.

According to a press release, First-time degree-seeking students who started full-time at Sandburg in the fall 2008 semester had a graduation rate 20% higher than the achieved mark held nationally.

The national benchmark for graduates is placed at 57% and the full-time enrollment for fall 2008 semester students at Sandburg completed with a 68.4% graduation rate. 

Dean of Students at Sandburg Misty Lyon stated, the college has added elements to help support the student’s needs.

For instance, collaborative learning classrooms, increased use of technology in classes, free tutoring that’s available to everyone both in person and online, and increased communication with students. 

She says their approach is to support students as much as possible so they can achieve their goal of becoming a college graduate. 

Along with this achievement, Sandburg was also recognized for completion rates well above the status quo by gender. Meaning, a completion rate of 48.1% were women passing the national 42.1% and a completion rate of 40.8% were men surpassing 36.4% nationally.
