Community Gathers to Mourn GHS Students Killed in Weekend Crash

vigil 1Hundreds met last night on the Galesburg High School practice football field to mourn the loss of two students killed in a weekend car crash near Lake Storey.

A candlelight prayer vigil was held for 17-year-old KaLee Pringle and 15-year-old Kylie Allen.

Allen and Pringle were both found near Valley View Road and West Lake Storey Road early Saturday morning inside of a vehicle that struck a tree about 25 feet north of the intersection of the two roads.

Last night, prayers of remembrance were given to console the saddened community, as well as for the families who lost their loved ones.

Karen Kistler, Nanna of Kylie Allen told WGIL, that community support is all that has been helping her get through the loss.

“The remarks on Facebook and the messages and texts I’ve gotten since Saturday morning, are the only thing that have helped me get through it,” says Kistler. “The re-affirmation that she was the wonderful person that I thought she was, has just been validated over and over by adults that knew her, by peers that knew her. Their remarks have been a testament to the fact that her life was well lived.”

Counseling services will continue to be made available throughout the day today at Galesburg High School for all of those in need.vigil 2
