Knoxville City Council Approves Various Improvements to Water Sewage

7-28-14 Knoxville City CouncilAt last night’s Knoxville City Council meeting, the council approved a few new improvements to different aspects of area water sewage.

One of those improvements included addressing drainage issues near the storm water settling tank.

3rd Ward Alderman Ed Mahar said this would also address the erosion problem under the sidewalk, with an estimated cost of $30,000.

“We know that there is a storm water management erosion problem,” says Mahar. “It’s a tank with a sidewalk around it–that has tipped into the tank, and all of the surface water is running down along the side of the tank. Erosion is eroding underneath. Plus the bank is very hard to maintain, so that needs to be redone for a cost of $30,000 estimated.

The council will put the job out for a bid.

The council also looked at a draft for a revised parking ordinance.

City Attorney Rob McCoy said some areas around town weren’t marked to comply with the revisions.
