Sarah C. Smith, 74, of Knoxville, formerly of Galesburg, died at 9:25 a.m. Thursday, October 1, 2015 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
She was born April 3, 1941 in Hastings, Arkansas, the daughter of Cleo and Vercie (Rhynes) Cole.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann (and Kevin) German of Dahinda; a daughter-in-law, Yvonne Guenther of Channahon; a son-in-law, Robert Kerr of California; four grandchildren, Richard Villareal, Sean Guenther, Kennedy German, and Carolyn German; a brother, John (and Rita) Cole of Winters, California; and a sister, Dorothy Smith of Vacaville, California. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Michael Guenther in 2012; a daughter, Linda Kerr in 2008; and three siblings, Betty Hester, James Cole, and William Cole.
Sarah had worked at Admiral for many years and then at Caterpillar in Mossville, until retiring in 1984. She was a member of Wataga Congregational Church. Sarah enjoyed gardening and playing bingo.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, October 5, 2015 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the chapel with Rev. Jim Ecklund officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
