HARVEY, Ill. (AP) — A man in his 20s was killed and two others were critically injured when the vehicle they were riding in crashed into a semi-trailer south of Chicago.
City spokesman Sean Howard says the crash happened about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday near a rail yard in Harvey. A backseat passenger, who police and family identified as 29-year-old Brian McChristian, was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Two other men were taken to hospitals in critical condition. The semi-trailer driver wasn’t injured.
Police believe texting while driving and speeding may have been factors in the fatal crash.
An investigation is ongoing.
