A county deputy at the scene says the 69-year-old man careened off road at a curve while traveling south. He landed in a ditch and was launched over his handlebars.
The man, whose name has been withheld by police, was in the ditch west of the road about 30 feet from his bike when officers arrived.
He suffered broken bones to the upper extremities and a possible head injury. Police say the injuries are not life threatening.
The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the wreck.
Galesburg Hospitals’ Ambulance Service transported the man to the OSF St. Mary Medical Center for treatment.
Officers and emergency crews arrived on the scene just before 4 p.m.
No other passengers or vehicles were involved.
