Her office announced today that she received appointment as a Democratic Senior House Whip.
In that position, Bustos will work with a team of House Dems determining strategy for the party, as well as advising members of the party about upcoming legislation.
In a press release, Bustos says she is “honored to take on the challenge.”
Maryland Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer appointed the East Moline Democrat. He says Bustos “is an outstanding advocate for working families.”
Bustos says her priorities include pushing jobs, manufacturing and her six-year highway bill which would secure funding for Illinois roads.
