The most recent accident was reported by the Knox County Sheriff’s Department who confirmed yesterday, that a Maquon woman died as the result of a crash on Highway 20, about four miles west of Maquon.
20-year-old Shelby A. Strang was killed when the pickup truck she was driving collided with another pickup truck pulling a dual-tank trailer of anhydrous ammonia. No chemicals leaked as the result of the crash. Strang was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after authorities responded around 7:38 a.m.
Illinois State Police responded around 3:47 a.m. yesterday to a fatal crash on I-74. 22-year-old Nick Kraynak of Oneida is believed to be the deceased. Veteran fundraising organization Shave for the Brave dedicated a fundraising event to the man last night.
Friday, ISP additionally reported the death of 18-year-old Sally Christianson of Wataga. Christianson was ejected from her vehicle on 255th avenue in Warren County. A candlelight vigil has been scheduled at The Beanhive Coffee Shop in Galesburg at 6 p.m. tonight in memory of Christianson. A vigil is scheduled at 8 p.m. in the Maquon city park for Strang as well.
