Pizza Ranch delayed to next year

A pizza chain that claims to have the country’s best chicken is not going to make it’s original estimated door opening.

Pizza Ranch Franchise Owner Brandon Pratt tells WGIL the blueprints are drawn and bids were submitted, but sub-contractors were busier than expected and that has caused delays.

“The majority of the subs that we contacted, and we try to do business with local subs, they were all pretty well tied up and they weren’t able to get in this Fall which makes it difficult in the Winter,” says Pratt. Construction is difficult in the Winter, it increases our costs. The costs outweighed waiting until til Spring so we had to make the tough decision to wait until Spring to break ground.”

He adds that the first round of bids came in about 30 percent over budget.

“Probably middle to the end of January is when we will put the new bids out in front of everyone to give them an opportunity to take a look at it.”

Pratt had originally planned to open the Galesburg location by the end of the year. He now expects a summer 2016 opening date, possibly in August.

If all goes to plan, construction would begin as early as March of next year, depending on weather.

The franchise will be built at Knox and Seminary streets and is expected to employ between 100 and 115 people.
