BEACH PARK, Ill. (AP) — A man is in custody after a woman and her teenage son were found dead inside a northern Illinois home.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called early Sunday morning to a home in Beach Park, where they discovered 43-year-old Lailani Uy Trejo and 14-year-old Patrick K. Cruz Uy dead with “obvious signs of trauma to their bodies.”
A 68-year-old woman was found injured and is expected to survive.
Authorities are questioning one of two men who also were inside the home when deputies arrived. He’s considered a person of interest in the deaths and the other man is a witness.
The man in custody hadn’t been charged as of Sunday afternoon.
Autopsies on the bodies will be conducted Monday.
