Galesburg Theatre Kids to perform “Junie B. Jones” musical this weekend

Gburg theatre kidsA local group of young theater kids are bringing a popular children’s book character to life on stage this weekend.

With “Junie B. Jones: The Musical,” Galesburg Theatre Kids is making their second performance this Friday, Saturday and Sunday since the troupe was formed under Galesburg High School Junior Zac Grimm earlier this year.

Grimm tells Galesburg’s Evening News on WGIL the project was made possible with support from the community.

“I’ve had a lot of help from a lot of parents who have come to help volunteer,” Grimm says. “A lot of people have come through Facebook, because we posted a GoFundme page and a lot of people have really helped to donate through that. We’ve been able to make everything better and better each time every time someone donates. That really helps. ”

He adds that it really is a show for everyone.

“Parents will love it, kids will love it, grandparents will love it, everyone will love it,” Grimm says.

The show will be at the Colonial Baptist Church at 7:30 p.m. this Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. matinees are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children.

The stage adaptation of the Barbara Parks book series is produced in associating with Music Theatre International.
