BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) — A Bloomington woman has pleaded guilty in the middle of her bench trial on charges that she didn’t obtain medical care for her young son who died from physical abuse.
The (Bloomington) Pantagraph reports 25-year-old Danielle Fischer pleaded guilty to child endangerment charges Tuesday on the trial’s second day. She was accused of failing to seek medical care for her 3-year-old son Robbie Cramer after he was repeatedly beaten by her former boyfriend Nicholas Compton.
Defense attorney Jane Foster said mounting incriminating evidence in the trial factored into Fischer’s decision to plead guilty. She is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 1, and faces two to 10 years in prison.
Compton was convicted of murder last year for causing internal injuries that led to the boy’s March 2013 death.
