EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Aerial Powers scored 18 points, including 10-for-10 shooting from the line, and No. 19 Michigan State coasted to a 76-47 win over Loyola Chicago on Sunday.
Akyah Taylor added 15 points to go with 11 rebounds and Tori Jankoska had 10 points for Michigan State (5-2), which controlled the boards 51-30 and had 16 assists on 25 field goals. Powers grabbed nine of those rebounds and Morgan Green had seven of the assists.
Loyola Chicago (2-5) jumped out to a 12-2 lead in the first quarter before Michigan State stormed back with a 17-4 run that included a pair of 3-pointers from Jankoska to give the Spartans the lead for good. A 3-point play from Powers with 2:16 left before intermission extended the margin to 33-21 and Michigan State enjoyed a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Taylor Manuel and Taylor Johnson each scored 14 points for Loyola Chicago.
