The Galesburg Community Foundation has announced organizations that will be shared recipients of $250,000 in grant dollars.
Applications were received from over 50 organizations and the GCF bestowed funds on 45 non-profits.
Executive Director of the GCF, Josh Gibb tells WGIL that a lot of diversity is shown in the good that non-profits are doing.
“When you see 54 different organizations apply, we’re really not focused on one thing. We’re just focused on the work that non-profits are doing so it’s always a fun and exciting grant cycle for us.”
Gibb says that the large number of applicants is a sign that the GCF is fulfilling their mission.
“It’s hard to come across organizations that the foundation hasn’t had some sort of connection with at some point and that’s really exciting too.”
Among the organizations receiving money from the GCF endowment are Special Olympics Illinois, FISH of Galesburg, The Orpheum Theatre and Safe Harbor Family Crisis Center.
Grant beneficiaries are chosen based out of the four areas GCF defines as constituting a healthy community; arts, physical activity, health care and education.
Money received from this grant is to be used for activities, programs and services provided.
