COUNTRYSIDE, Ill. (AP) — The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking public comments on its plan to add a “managed traffic lane” to Interstate 55 from Bolingbrook to Chicago.
Officials have scheduled a public meeting from Wednesday at the Holiday Inn Countryside Conference Center.
The public may comment on various alternatives for the work from Interstate 355, also known as the Veterans Memorial Tollway, to Interstate 90/94, the Dan Ryan Expressway.
The plan is to add a managed lane facility within the existing median of I-55, also called the Stevenson Expressway.
Officials say the lane would improve mobility, travel times and efficiency.
Exhibits will be on display and there will be audio-visual presentations.
Written comments may also be submitted at the meeting or until Dec. 23.
