Area villages have found a way to get into the holiday spirit while giving a boost to local businesses. This Friday is Woodhull’s annual Christmas Walk, a host of festive activities, prizes and music that will be on display from 4 to 7 p.m.
The walk’s coordinator Jessica Trout tells WGIL it gives Woodhull residents a way to embrace the season.
“It’s more just for appreciation of the businesses and they’re doing appreciation of the customers and just to bring people to the town,” Trout says.
Sixteen businesses take part in the walk, open with treats, deals and surprises.
Trout says that she expects a great turnout because of the friendly weather forecast.
While it’s hard to tell how many show up because walkers are largely inside the stores and buildings, she’s gotten positive feedback in past years.
“Every year the businesses have appreciated and said they have a good turn out,” she says.
Santa is scheduled to make an appearance at the Clover Library at 5 p.m., being chauffeured in by a fire truck.
The walk won’t be without music, Pam Eiker has a group of young musicians providing sounds of the season and tunes spun by DJ Dave on Main Street.
This is the 6th year for this annual seasonal event.
Trout says they were inspired to have a holiday walk after several neighboring villages were doing the same.
Something new this year is a tour of homes decorated for the holidays with five houses participating.
