Munson Hybrids announces facility expansion

munson 2For the third time since 1999, a local seed company has expanded their facilities, and the growing doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon.Following eight months of demolition and renovation, the Munson Hybrids seed company of Galesburg has announced that an expansion to their facility on Knox Road is complete.

General Manager Holly Hennenfent tells WGIL, the upgraded space correlates with a growing staff.

“We started off with three employees, we’re now up to 24 employees,” says Hennefent. “So in order to have room for all of our individual groups to run efficiently we need to able to take care of phone calls and so forth without having background noise and we need space for all our computer systems and we’ve upgraded the telephone system. We’ve just gone from antiquated to state of the art which has been really nice.”

A learning center, two new offices, a larger employee break room and an expanded maintenance and repair shop have all been added as well. Hennenfent also says an outdated structure that housed seed was torn down to make way for the improvements.

The local company sells small seed such as corn, soybean and alfalfa to farmers in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
