Galesburg Railroad Museum plans to add more display space

GALESBURG, Ill. (AP) — The Galesburg Railroad Museum is closed during the winter and using the time to remodel display space. The (Galesburg) Register-Mail reports that the museum will have an additional 100-square-feet of display space on its main floor. Museum President Maury Godsil says they’re adding a loft for office space, rather than having offices on the ground floor.

The museum closes in September and reopens in April every year. Godsil says the work should be finished by the time the museum reopens in April 2016. He says they’ll use the extra space to display more memorabilia and artifacts that are now in storage. Godsil says the museum usually rotates displays so it “can show something different every year.”
