In light of delays, the new Holiday Inn Express & Suites is scheduled to open on East Main Street just before the new year. The hotel is set to open Wednesday.
That information comes from Ryan Cochran, area general manager at Janko Hospitality, the company in charge of building the new hotel.
“We’ll be open to the public that afternoon,” Cochran says. “The hotel is completed and our team spent the last two weeks prepping and preparing and cleaning and getting the facility ready for the public.”
He says one of the draws to the hotel is the new “Formula Blue” design that brings with it a business center, breakfast area, and more flexible areas including a “lifestyle lounge.”
As for the Washington Street Holiday Inn, Cochran says they have plans for that.
“Our current Holiday Inn, we will continue to own and manage,” he says. “And we’ll be converting that into a Baymont Inn & Suites. That process is already started and that property will get a major renovation over the next couple months, hopefully to be completed in April.”
The new building will have 81 rooms when it opens at 2160 E. Main St. It was originally planned to open in November.
