Barrington project to include tearing up Metra parking lot

BARRINGTON, Ill. (AP) — A Chicago suburb is planning a major public works project that will include tearing up parts of a commuter parking lot near Metra’s Union Pacific Northwest Line. The Daily Herald reports the $8 million project is one of the largest ever for the village of Barrington. Work is expected to get underway in the spring.

Jason Hayden is the village’s treasurer and director of financial services. He says the project will include tearing up residential streets and portions of a Metra parking lot. Aging sanitary sewers and a water main will be replaced.

The village board in July approved an $8 million bond issue to pay for the project.

Hayden says the roads that will be torn up and replaced are some of the worst in the village.
