Officials identify 2 killed in train-car crash near Chicago

HOMETOWN, Ill. (AP) — Authorities have identified two Chicago women who were killed when the vehicle they were riding in was struck by a Metra commuter train near the city’s southwest side.Twenty-year-old Juniel Kemp and 18-year-old Alexis Kemp died from their injuries after the collision Monday in Hometown. Four other passengers in the vehicle, including a 3-year-old boy, were seriously injured.

Police believe the vehicle got stuck on ice as it crossed the tracks and the gates lowered behind it. The incident remains under investigation.

Many of the victims were related. The women who died were cousins.
