Galesburg City Council members will meet tonight for the first time in 2016, to discuss an item largely discussed throughout 2015.
A $10.7 Million bond issue is on first read tonight in regular session. The bond series would fund a number of city infrastructure, street and capital improvement projects through utility tax dollars including $3.45 Million in construction work to the old Armory building, at least five brick overlay construction projects to streets, work to the Farnham street bridge and a number of other fixes.
Meanwhile, City Manager Todd Thompson’s salary could see an increase after tonight’s meeting.
If council approves, Thompson will see a 3.25% increase to his base salary. 2015 City documents indicate Thompson’s salary last year was $132,000.
The average raise received by exempt employees last year was 3.37%.
