Jeffrey “Jeff” E. Melhus, DMD, 60, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 7:17 pm Tuesday, February 9, 2016 in Galesburg.
He was born December 5, 1955 in Clarion, Iowa the son of Lawrence Edward and Patricia Marie Peterson Melhus. He married Cheryl R. Cook on December 30, 1977 in Savanna, Illinois. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Jared (Monica) Melhus and their sons, Jonah and Henry, Marcus and his son, Parker and Evan Melhus all of Galesburg; his daughter, Kimberly (Jason) Mitchell and their daughter, Zoe, of Flagstaff, Arizona; two brothers, Dave (Lorie) Melhus of Pella, Iowa and Mike (Rosemary) Melhus of Savanna; two sisters, Andrea (Ron) Themas of Davenport, Iowa and Susan Melhus-Lee of Geneseo, Illinois; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Jeff has worked as a dentist since 1982. He graduated from Savanna High School in 1974. He graduated from University of Dubuque Iowa in Dubuque, Iowa and Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in Alton, Illinois. Jeff was a member of the American Dental Association. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed water and snow skiing, kayaking and boating. He was totally devoted to his family, his staff and patients.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2:30 PM Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the First Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Harold Berrian will officiate.
