DeKALB, Ill. (AP) — The DeKalb High School marching band could be heading to Ireland to perform at the 2017 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin.
The Daily Chronicle reports The Marching Barbs have been invited to perform during next year’s four-day festival and band competition. Half a million people will view the parade.
But first the band needs to raise almost $250,000 to offset travel costs for about 100 students.
Band Director Steven Lundin says there’s something special about St. Patrick’s Day in Dublin. He says “We expect it will be a really special experience.”
Four years ago, the band performed at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.
