Galesburg Silver Streaks Girls Basketball vs. Dunlap Eagles

Here is a recap of tonight’s game from WGIL’s Tom Meredith:

“The Galesburg Silver Streaks won the Dunlap Regional Title tonight over the Eagles by a final of 54-28. It was a low-scoring game to start, with Galesburg outscoring Dunlap 12-7 in the 1st quarter. Both teams then scored 7 in the 2nd quarter, putting the Streaks up 19-14 at halftime. Lexi Daniels took over in the 3rd quarter, hitting 3 3-pointers in that quarter, two more in the 4th, after 1 to open the game. Streaks outscored Dunlap 35-14 in the 2nd half, including 20-9 in that 4th quarter, 15-5 in the 3rd quarter.

Lexi was our Dave’s Autobody Crunch Time Player of the Game with 18 points on 6 3-pointers. Streaks struggled from the free throw line tonight, just 8/15, although in the 4th quarter they only missed 1, so they hit better in the 2nd half especially in the 4th quarter. Shayli just missed a double double, as did RainaShayli with 14 points and 9 rebounds, Raina with 9 points and 9 assists for the Streaks and 10 points for Kylee Townsell on 5 baskets.

“Streaks pick up their 30th win of the season, they’re now 30-3 and they move on to the Sectional Semi-final game Monday night at John Thiel Gym with the opponent still to be determined until we know the winner of tomorrow night’s game between Washington and Richwoods for the Canton Regional title. Streaks win it 54-28.”
