Looking for something to do this weekend? Local residents will have plenty to choose from including a special yearly event for the kids.

The 28th annual Easter Egg Hunt hosted by the City of Galesburg is scheduled for this Sunday at 1 p.m.

Recreation Supervisor Elizabeth Varner tells WGIL that the event will take place at the Lakeside Recreation Facility and will have prizes, candy and of course–eggs.

“We’ve got over 12,000 eggs out there for them to find so it’s going to be a lot of fun,” Varner says.

Varner says the egg hunt is for kids two to 11. She adds their will be a special visitor as well.

“The Easter Bunny is coming,” Varner adds. “We’re just really looking forward to this event, we think it’s going to be great this year. The weather has been wonderful and the grass is green.”

Meanwhile, tomorrow listeners who tune into WGIL between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. can bid on items for the 19th annual radio auction.

Galesburg Broadcasting Company Sales Manager Chris Postin says there will be over 1,000 items up for grabs.

“You go to wgil.com and you can see the list of all the items that we have for sale,” Postin says. “We’re talking everything from gutters to your house to restaurant certificates, a pool or a hot tub, gravel for your driveway.”
