Richard L. Totten, 78, of Wataga, Illinois passed away at his home, after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by his family at 12:01 A.M. on Friday, April 8, 2016.

Richard was born on April 15, 1937 in Alexis, Illinois the son of Lakis and Katherine Foster Totten. He attended and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1955. He married Judy L. Mills Thompson on April 14, 1978 in Warren County, Illinois.
Surviving is his wife, Judy of Wataga, Illinois; his children: Janlyn (Rick) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Joanna (Randall) Sherfinski of Heartland, Wisconsin, Alice Caslin of Mount Polaski, Illinois, Lee (Beth) Totten of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Jim (Amy) Thompson of Wataga, Illinois and Jerry Thompson of Galesburg, Illinois; fourteen grandchildren: Jason (Erin), Joseph, Jamie Vargas, Hannah and Josh Sherfinski, Barringer and Avery Totten, Troian Hascall, Lexi and Ethan Caslin, Steven and Marvin Thompson, Brendan, Kylee Thompson (Andrew Wollrab), Brenton Gray, Bryce Ash, and Aaron Lambin; six great grandchildren, Zacary Wollrab, Aria Gurley, Jayden and Steven Thompson Jr., Ellin and Jamison Vargas; his siblings: Dorothy (Wayne) Schrock of Sugar Creek, Ohio and Don (Evelyn) Totten of Galesburg, Illinois; his two very loved cats Snoop and Sami; many cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents, aunt Millie and his cats Buff and Muffin.

Dick was a licensed plumber, he worked for Holts and Bimbo Plumbing in Galesburg, Illinois eventually going out on his own. He is a past member of the Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed duck hunting, tinkering around the house and working in the yard. He most enjoyed spending time with the people he loved, camping with his children and taking day trips with his wife and grandchildren. Some of his favorite time was spent with his beloved cats on his lap watching his Green Bay Packers. Dick was a man of faith and a man of family. He had an ability to make every person in his life feel special and loved.
