Starting this morning and going through Sunday in Bushnell, the Steinjager Jeep Blitz will offer obstacle courses for people who want to test their jeeps’ mettle.

Entry is $5 for spectators and $25 for participants who want to take their jeeps through an obstacle course.

Proceeds go to the Honor Flight of Peoria, which sends veterans to Washington, D.C. Dwayne Hulett with Steinjager tells Galesburg’s Morning News on WGIL they’ve promised at least $500 to the Honor Flight, but plan to give much more.

“If we can get $5,000, that puts a bunch of veterans on a plane,” he says, “which is really what our goal is, is to get veterans to Washington D.C. to see the memorials and thank them for what they did and how they’ve served our country through the years.”

Those looking for something more relaxing can find that tomorrow at 7 p.m. when the Salvation Army Chicago Staff Band will play at the Knoxville High School Auditorium.

Reverend Leigh Nygard says he thinks people will be impressed by the band’s mastery of music.

“They not only play, which is their main venue, but they also sing and also share,” Nygard says. “So it is a wonderful opportunity to hear some great music.”

The 38-member band will also play at 9 a.m. and again at 11 a.m. Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church in Galesburg. The performances are free to the public; donations will be accepted.
