
W. Dale Fields, 79, of Woodhull, Illinois died Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Park Vista Retirement Home in East Moline.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the United Church of Woodhull. Burial is in the Woodhull Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Woodhull. He was born May 17, 1936 in Galesburg, Illinois to George and Edna Johnson Fields. He attended Woodhull schools and graduated from Galesburg High School. Dale enlisted in the U.S. Marines serving from 1955-1959. He married Margaret Perry April 2, 1960 at the Methodist Church of Woodhull. She died April 4, 2012.
He farmed in the Rio area and was employed at John Deere Plow and Planter Works in Moline for 28 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1992.
Dale was elected president of the Board of Trustees for the Village of Woodhull from 1969 to 1973 and was a member of the United Church of Woodhull. He was a very private and quiet man who always put his family first.
Survivors include three daughters: Julie (Joe) DeDecker of Orion, IL, Kathy Fields of Silvis, Illinois, Angie (Scott) Rybka of Plainfield, Illinois; 6 grandchildren: Brandon (Addy) Vail, Megan (Greg) Westhoff, Tyler and Trent DeDecker, Cj and Andrew Rybka; four great grandchildren: Kinsley, Aven, Chesney, Aceson; two sisters, Louise Green of Moline, Illinois; Candy (Loren) Swihart of Lynn Center, Illinois; three brothers, Ron (Maureen) Fields of Great Mills, Maryland; Darrell (Sharon) Fields of Henderson, Illinois; Fred (Linda) Fields of Andover, Illinois; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret; one daughter: Sheri Lynn; and one brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Karen Fields.
