Richard Dean “Dick” Connor, 70, of Galva, died at 5:05 a.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Toulon Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 9 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Pastor Karen Martin will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, May 8 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Galva Fusiliers. Memorials may be directed to Preferred Hospice.

He was born May 31, 1945 in Galesburg, the son of Rolland and Betty (Reed) Conner. Survivors include his daughter, Gail (Pat) Sherbeyn of LaFayette, a son, Pat (Sue Ann) Conner of Galva, a brother, John (Diane) Conner of Galesburg, three grandchildren, Amber Sherbeyn, Sara Wheelhouse and Kristin Spiegel, three great grandchildren, Ethan, Carter and Addyson and several nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mike.

Dick graduated from Galva High School in 1963. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era and had served in Antarctica. He was a self-employed urinal tech and plumber. He was a member of the Hagburg-Hamlin American Legion and the Galva Fusiliers where he had been Past Commander and District Commander. He was a longtime deer hunter and enjoyed fishing, playing cards and westerns, especially Louis L’Amour novels. This obituary may be viewed and private condolences left at www.ruxfuneralhome.com.
