Dorothy A. Jones, 78, of Galesburg, died at 2:45 p.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 4 at Rux Funeral Home in Kewanee. Pastor Bob Wakefield will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee. A memorial service will be also be held for Dorothy at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 11 at the Galesburg Four Square Church. Memorials may be directed to her church.
She was born July 24, 1937 in Kewanee, the daughter of Floyd and Lillian (Powers) Workheiser. She married Wilbur Jones on June 9, 1969 in Kewanee. He survives of Galesburg, as do their five children, Jody Jones and Cynthia Hilman, both of Galesburg, Julie Jorgeson of Virginia, IL, Wayne Jones of Kewanee and Wanda Jones of Moscow Mills, MO, her siblings, Phyllis Camey and Floyd “Sonny” (Martha) Workheiser Jr., both of Kewanee, Robert “Bob” Workheiser of Galesburg, Kenneth (Jean) Workheiser of Clovis, NM, Lois (Clifford) Calhoun of Elroy, WI, Ronald (Shirley) Workheiser of Decatur, IL, Roger (Garnafay) Workheiser of Galesburg and Gary (Jackie) Workheiser of Kewanee, seventeen grandchildren, forty-three great grandchildren with one on the way and a great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Allen Jones Sr., two daughters, Rachiel and Ramona and three siblings, Lorraine Owens, Sharon Conner and Edward Workheiser.
Dorothy was a homemaker who was none for taking care of everyone. She had a love for children and her friends. She was a member of the Galesburg Foursquare Church where she had taught Sunday School. This obituary may be viewed and private condolences left at www.ruxfuneralhome.com.
