Peoria arena official pledges fix for long security lines

PEORIA, Ill. (AP) — Security measures and long lines caused some fans to miss the start of James Taylor’s recent concert at the Peoria Civic Center.

The venue now is adjusting its staffing and ordering more metal detectors to prevent similar problems at future shows.

Civic Center General Manager Anne Clayton tells the (Peoria) Journal Star delays at Sunday’s concert were “unacceptable.” Officials arranged for a 10-minute delay in Taylor’s performance, but some patrons still missed a few songs because of backed-up security lines. There was no opening act.

Clayton says the Civic Center’s marketing team will remind patrons to plan ahead for getting through security, which should help. More entry points will be available at future arena shows.
