Lovelace could be released from prison as early as Tuesday

VIRGINIA, Ill. (AP) — A former Illinois prosecutor who faces a second murder trial in his wife’s death could be released from jail as early as Tuesday.

Friends of Curtis Lovelace posted bond Monday after a judge reduced his $5 million bond to $3.5 million. Lovelace has been behind bars since he was charged nearly two years ago with first-degree murder in the suffocation death of his 38-year-old wife, Cory Lovelace.

The Quincy Herald-Whig reports the former Adams County assistant state’s attorney will be released from the Hancock County Jail after he is fitted with an alcohol detection ankle bracelet. That won’t happen until Tuesday at the earliest.

Lovelace will be under home confinement except to go to church on Sunday and for weekly meetings with a monitoring company representative at the Adams County Courthouse.
