Just in time for “Kolton Wong Hawaiian Jersey Night,” the St. Louis Cardinals second baseman has been recalled from triple-A Memphis. Wong, who will be honored by the jersey giveaway at Busch Stadium this evening, has been at the Cards minor league affiliate since being demoted on June 5th. Wong made the Cardinals decision to promote him back to the big league club easier by hitting .429 with 4 home runs and 14 rbi’s in his seven games with Memphis. Defensively, Wong may see some time in the Cardinals outfield, as that’s where played for much of his stint in the minors the past week. To make room on the big league roster, rookie Jeremy Hazelbaker was sent back to Memphis. Hazelbaker has cooled off after a hot start with the Cardinals this season, but was still hitting .250 with 3 pinch-hit home runs.
