
An Abingdon middle school student is taking her goat tying skills to Lebanon, Tennessee for the 12th annual National Junior High Finals Rodeo.
Molly Bell will be competing today through June 25.
According to a news release from Carl Sandburg College Marketing Director Robin DeMott, the A-Town sixth grader has competed in barrel racing, pole bending and goat tying. Her coach, Jesse Haynes, qualified for the National College Rodeo Finals last week Casper Wyoming.
The competition will be televised nationally on RFD-TV and live broadcasts can be found online at NHSRATV.com. Performance times start at 7 p.m. today and will be at 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. each day after.
The National Junior High Finals Rodeo features about 1,000 contestants from 43 states, Canada and Australia. Contestants are competing for more than $75,000 in prizes, more than $100,000 in college scholarships and the title of NJHFR Champion.
