The State of Illinois’ FFA program has a new team of elected officers and a local teenager will lead the young farmers organization for the next year.

18-year-old J.C. Campbell was named president last week at the Illinois State FFA convention. The Little York native is a 2016 graduate of United High School and was selected from a group of 10 candidates, five of whom were named to various officer positions.

In a news release, Campbell says he plans to take advantage of the opportunity and “positively influence members throughout the state.”

As a part of his presidency, Campbell will bypass attending college for one year to travel around the state and even overseas representing the organization.

Teens from Trivoli, El Dorado, Steward and Amboy were selected to this years officer team as well.

The FFA has elected a state officer team since 1929. There are currently more than 17,500 student members in the State of Illinois alone.
