Abingdon-Avon schools’ Director of Technology Mark Rogers has been arrested on charges of eavesdropping.

According to Knox County jail records, Rogers was booked today on a warrant for three counts of eavesdropping.

Bond was set at $15,000. Rogers posted $1,500 and was released. Little additional information is available at this time.

Rogers has been on administrative leave for months while the District 276 School Board investigated a data breach into the district’s student information system, Skyward.

A letter posted on the district website claims the investigation was prompted by employees noticing that student grade point averages had been changed without authorization.

Community members have been frustrated with the perceived lack of transparency by the board and Superintendent Chad Willis during the investigation. Over 100 people have attended each of the last few board meetings. The district has released little information to this point.
