The Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce and the Knox County Area Partnership for Economic Development are on the move.

Both organizations are announcing their intention today to move in to the second floor of the former Wells Fargo building at 200 E. Main in Galesburg.

That’s a floor above where the Knox County YMCA’s downtown branch is expected to open on Sept. 1.

A joint news release says the new space will be a “modern” “stylish” business office.

Partnership President Ken Springer tells WGIL they hope to present a more professional atmosphere to meet with businesses.

“We wanted to go with something that had a little more of a professional look to it,” Springer says. “I think it’s going to be more impression making, so by taking the soon to be renovated former Wells Fargo building, we think that’s going to present a better overall visual look for the organization and be more impactful when we meet with folks coming in from out of town.”

The move will get underway on July 1 and the organizations will reopen at the new spot on July 6.

Meanwhile, the Chamber continues their search for their next Executive Director.

The position has been vacant for nearly eight months.
