Illinois State Police have identified the driver and passenger killed in yesterday afternoon’s single-vehicle wreck on Interstate 74.
ISP identified 78-year-old Veva A. Herschberger as the driver and 81-year-old Melvin J. Herschberger as the passenger. Both were from Kalona, Iowa.
Police responded before 2:30 p.m. yesterday to a construction zone near mile marker 17 on I-74 where a westbound Buick sedan left the roadway. The vehicle struck an overpass culvert.
No further information has been released. The crash remains under investigation.
