The Galesburg Christian School has sold their Hawkinson Street campus and intends to hold all classes in September at their Fremont Street location.
That’s according to Galesburg Christian School Administrator Bob Nutzhorn, who tells WGIL that Harmony Baptist Church bought the west campus.
“It’s been our goal for several years now to get to one campus and so we are actually pursuing, and should have in place, a modular building to use for the coming school year,” Nutzhorn says.
That “modular” building will be at the Galesburg Christian Fremont Street campus.
Nutzhorn says the transition will allow all students to attend school in one place. Fifth- through 12th-grade classes had been held at the Hawkinson Street school while preschool through fourth-grade classes were on Fremont Street.
“It makes us a little more efficient with our funds that we do have,” he says. “It’s a good solution for us.”
He adds that the modular building will help account for increases in enrollment. Nutzhorn says he is expecting between 120 and 140 students next school year, up from 104 at the end of last year and 69 at the beginning of the 2014-15 school year.
Classes at the Christian school will begin later than normal with a September start date, but should be out before Memorial Day next year.
