A Galesburg man was sentenced to four years in prison yesterday as a part of plea deal in a sexual assault case involving a 10 year old girl.
26-year-old Robert C. Binder was arrested in September of 2015 for having sexual contact with the minor.
Following his apprehension on an arrest warrant, Binder was charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child–a charge that carries a 60 year prison sentence.
He also faced charges of sexual exploitation of a minor and indecent solicitation of a child. Yesterday, Binder pleaded guilty to the solicitation charge and the other charges were dropped.
Court documents indicate he was babysitting the girl on August 20th and proceeded to climb into a shower with her.
Binder will serve a minimum of two years. He was given credit for 326 days served.
