
Mrs. Gertrude L. Alderman, 92, of Galesburg, died at 10:10 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2016 in Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville.She was born September 27, 1923 in Creve Coeur, Missouri, the daughter of William F. and Emily (Hackmann) Graeler. She married Walter E. Alderman on July 15, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 10, 2003.
Gertrude is survived by her son, Alan L. (and Sandra) Alderman of Galesburg; her two daughters, Leslee A. Vance of Kevil, Kentucky and Maria L. (and Anthony) Roberson of Galesburg; five grandchildren, Ronnie Vance, Rhonda (and David) Lange, Troy Alderman, Douglas Alderman, and Cristie (and Dan) Allbright; five great grandchildren, Kaylyn Alderman, Kirsten Alderman, Payton Sheckler, Jackson Sheckler, and Justin Lange; and one great-great grandson, Kaiden Alderman. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, and four brothers.
Gertrude was a homemaker. She was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen Auxiliary. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, August 1, 2016 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Norman Mendell will officiate. Visitation will be 2 to 3 p.m. Monday at the chapel.
