Mr. Edward L. Peters, 71, of Galesburg, died at 2:40 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2016 at home.Ed was born December 13, 1944 in Ottumwa, IA, the son of William Edward and Margaret Lucille Wilson Peters. He married Donna J. Flahive on October 7, 1978 in Ottumwa, IA. She preceded him in death on April 30, 1999. Ed is survived by two sons, Edward P. Peters of Galesburg and Mark (Angie) Peters of Ottumwa, IA; two daughters, Lisa (Tom) Morgan Osage Beach, MO and Mindy (John) Ehrenfeld of Aurora; and three grandchildren, Paitin Peters, Maddux Peters, and Nora Ehrenfeld. He is also survived by two brothers, Tom (Kathy) Peters of Rome, NY and Bill (Theresa) Peters of Onalaska, Wi; and one sister, Joyce Ploss of Ottumwa, IA.
Ed worked as an Engineer for BNSF for 42 years retiring in 2004. In his free time Ed enjoyed playing golf. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye’s fan, and enjoyed classic cars.
Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Cremation rites will be accorded following visitation. A celebration of life will follow from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cactus Country. Private family burial of cremated remains will be at a later date at Calvary Cemetery, Ottumwa, IA.
