EFFINGHAM, Ill. (AP) — Jimmy Wilson of Effingham finished in the top six truck drivers in the “Super Bowl of Safety.”Wilson is a driver for FedEx. He represented Illinois last month in Indianapolis at the national championship of truck drivers representing different companies.
Wilson told the (Effingham) Daily News that a mix-up at the state competition delayed his preparation for the national meet. He finished first in Illinois, but wasn’t informed until a week later.
Scott Riches is manager of the FedEx service center in Effingham. He says Wilson’s accomplishment “is a huge deal for the company.”
It was Wilson’s second trip to the national competition. He says he knew what to expect but that the atmosphere was more intense when he made it to the final round.
