Mrs. Juanita Louise Sandberg, 87, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 10:40 pm Sunday, September 11, 2016 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.She was born November 22, 1928 in Galesburg, Illinois the daughter of William E. and Vivian Shane Lindberg. She married Robert L. Peterson on March 28, 1948 in Galesburg, he preceded her in death on July 8, 1978. She then married Calvin N. Thurman on May 26, 1979 in Abingdon, Illinois, he preceded her in death on May 29, 1993. She later married Duane W. Sandberg on February 22, 1999 in Dekalb, Illinois.
She is survived by her husband, Duane; her son, David Peterson of Limon, Colorado; her daughter, Carol Peterson Moeller of Moline, Illinois; her sister, Sandy (and Gene) Waibel of Morton, Illinois; many grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by Becky and Don Derry, Jim and Charlene Sandberg and David and Patt Sandberg. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands and her brother, William Lindberg.
Juanita worked as a receptionist for Dr. Cannon, Dr. Holland and Dr. Paisley for 20 years. She also worked as a receptionist for Knox College. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1946. She was a member of the Covenant Church.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Covenant Church. Rev. Tom Ek will officiate. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Covenant Church.
