A former Silver Streak and Galesburg man is making his screen debut next month.Galesburg High School alum Andrew Steck recently spent a week in Chicago as a background actor for the primetime NBC show “Chicago Med.”
Some may be surprised that a guy with a love for sports and hunting could also be bit by the acting bug but Steck was in high school, even if he kept his infection low-profile.
“It’s kind of something I always wanted to try and get into,” Steck says. “I always looked at casting calls in Chicago from the time I was in high school, but people think you’re crazy if you say ‘I want to be on TV or I want to be in a movie.’ They look at you like it’s such a hard industry to break into.”
But on a whim he applied sending in his information and a current picture.
The next day a casting director called him.
There’s a real chance that Steck will be seen on screen as in some scenes he sat next to the principal actors.
“They might blur me out but I’m going to say that’s my foot! I’m on there,” Steck laughs.
You won’t see any photos of the shoot on Steck’s social media accounts.
That was strictly prohibited, in fact he was told there’s someone who works for NBC who’s job it is to check background cast’s social media.
Steck wasn’t positive, but believes his episode is the fifth of the season and should air on Oct. 20.
