GHS Football to host Alleman for homecoming

At first glance, the homecoming football game for the Galesburg Silver Streaks looks to be a huge mismatch, with the Alleman Pioneers bringing a record of 1-and-5 into the contest against the 5-and-1 Streaks.  However, as league-leader Quincy found out last Friday night, the smallest school in the Western Big 6 has become a very dangerous foe.  Quincy was on the ropes–down by 9 points in the fourth quarter –before rallying for a 42-37 escape in Rock Island.  Meanwhile, the Silver Streaks were romping over United Township 49-6.  That sets the stage for Friday night’s game, one which Alleman coach Todd DePoorter tells WGIL finds his team “playing their best football of the year.”  The hard part for the Pioneers will be slowing down the GHS offense, which got 4 touchdown passes from quarterback Jacob Ross last week.  Kickoff time is set for 7:30, with pregame coverage at 7:06 on WGIL.
